A marathon run on the theme “run for a plastic free Nagaland” to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti was held at the state capital on October 2.

The awareness event was organised by the Department of Youth Resources & Sports as part of the Fit India movement.  NSS and NYK Kohima volunteers joined the event where the flagged off was held at PHQ junction, Kohima.

The run was flagged off by Principal Secretary of P&AR and home department Abhijit Sinha. In his brief address, he encouraged the gathering to strive forward to clean the environment for safer and a better place to live in.

The participants on the way collected plastics scrap from the road side during the marathon run which culminated at local ground Kohima.
