Rural youths trained on ‘pig rearing’

Ten-day long skill training programme for the rural youths on “Pig Rearing and Management” organized by the SBI RSETI Peren, Jalukie, concluded on July 24.

According to Seiminngam Chongloi, office assistant, the programme was organized at the campus from July 15 to 24. The resources person for the residential training programme was professor Veterinary College, Jalukie, Dr. R Mahesh Singh.
A total of 25 candidates from different areas of the state participated in the training and were trained on both theory and practical. 
They were also informed to spread the message to every household in the villages to adopt the hygienic and productive way of rearing pigs.
The participants were also taken for exposure visit to private pig breeding farm, in and around Jalukie valley.
The valedictory programme was chaired by director Uttam Das, where he spoke about the importance of pig rearing in Nagaland. He advised the trainees to use the knowledge they acquired for generating income so that they can become self-reliant.
He also distributed certificate to participants.
The main aim of the programme was to make the rural youths of Nagaland capable of adopting the pig farming as income generating activity.
The institute will also be organizing a mushroom cultivation training programme from August 1. Interested persons have been asked to contact at SBI-RSETI, NAP Colony Jalukie, Peren.
