SAMETI online training for commercial crops

State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organised a two-day online training programme on “promotion of IPM in commercial agricultural and horticultural crops” for Agri & allied & ATMA functionaries at SAMETI, Medziphema on September 17 and 18.

A press release by SAMETI stated that,  in her inaugural speech, director SAMETI & principal IETC i/c, Dr. Watimongla Jamir reiterated on the importance of integrated pest management (IPM) and stated that the training schedule covered important topics which were relevant and applicable at farmers’ level. She encouraged trainees to play the role of extension agents effectively so as to contribute in improving the farming system in the state.

Resource persons were senior technical assistant, of entomology, J. Akato Chishi, assistant professor, of entomology, Dr. Pankaj Neog and assistant professor, of entomology, N.U. SASRD, Medziphema, Dr. Waluniba.

Topics covered during the online training were introduction, principles and its different component /tools of IPM, integrated pest of horticultural crops and its management, use of chemical pesticides in IPM: biological control and modules of IPM in different field crops with reference to Nagaland.

Meanwhile, feedbacks were received from participants and e-certificates were issued. Altogether, 22 ATMA functionaries from 11 districts attended the online training programme.
