SAMETI training for ATMA functionaries

State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organized a two-day training programme on “post harvest management and value addition of fruits and vegetables” for ATMA functionaries from 11 districts, Nagaland at SAMETI, Medziphema from February 19 to 20. 

A press release from SAMETI Medziphema stated that, resource persons for the training were Abon W. Yanthan, scientist, Horticulture vegetable science, ICAR, Research Complex for NEH Region, Dr. Nini R. Kuotso guest faculty, Horticulture, NU: SASRD, Medziphema Campus and Vinika post harvest technologist, CIH Medziphema. 

Training programme covered topics on scope of food processing in horticulture sector, pre and post harvest factor influencing shelf life of fruits and vegetables, drying and dehydration etc. Hands on demonstration was done on preparation of  brinjal pickle, star fruit squash, tomato sauce, jam making  and preparation of fruit beverages was conducted.

Valedictory function was chaired by Vikaho Chophi, DPD SAMETI, while feedback on the training was given by trainees. During valedictory address, Dr. Watimongla Jamir, in-charge director SAMETI, Medziphema encouraged the participants to become the real extension worker by bringing about tangible changes in their respective districts as well as the state. 

Certificates were also distributed to the participants by Dr. Watimongla Jamir and vote of thanks was pronounced by Sentinaro Longchar, DPD SAMETI.
