SASRD inaugurates DTDDF workshop on technologies

School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural development (SASRD), Nagaland University (NU) in collaboration with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai inaugurated “Department of Atomic Energy Technologies Display and Dissemination Facility” (DTDDF) centre at SASRD on July 7. 
A press release from DTDDF, SASRD exercising authority, Dr. N. K. Patra stated that, a workshop on “Technologies of BARC for Rural People of Nagaland” was also organized. The DTDDF centre was jointly inaugurated by S. Gupta, head, Technology Transfer and Collaboration Division, BARC and Prof. T. Lanusosang, Pro-VC, SASRD. 
Prof. T. Lanusosang, pro-vice chancellor, SASRD encouraged participants to learn all the new technologies and incorporate it into their livelihoods so that it could make their life easier and generate additional income. 
Delivering the keynote address Prof. A.K. Makar, dean, SASRD, NU, gave an overview of the BARC and highlighted on the future work plan, strategy and role of DTDDF and BARC in uplifting the livelihoods of the rural people of the North Eastern region and Nagaland in particular.
The chief guest S. Gupta in his speech gave a detailed outlook of the BARC and how they moved on from developing atomic bombs to intervention into agriculture, food security, environment, health, etc so that they can transform rural lives and reduce the migration of rural people to urban areas. 
During the workshop two technical sessions were held and the resource persons were S. Gupta, head, Technology transfer and collaboration Division (TTDC), BARC and G. R. Ursal, Scientist from TTDC, BARC. The program was attended by 130 participants from villages, industrial and business people, faculty, staff and students of SASRD.
The workshop was chaired by Dr. N. K. Patra, exercising authority, DTDDF and vote of thanks was given by T. Senchumo Yanthan, project staff, DTDDF.
