SBC holds ‘senior citizen’s prayer day’

As a mark of respect to the parents and seniors for their notable contribution in the church, the Sangtam Baptist Church (SBC) Dimapur conducted a “senior citizen’s day of prayer” (Ashi Azirü nyümong) at its Church here on Sunday.

Delivering the sermon, Reverend Thritong, pastor, SBCD said gray hair was a gift from God and therefore should thank the saviour for the blessing.
He asked the congregation to pray for the longevity of their parents reminding them that some of those who wanted to pray for their parents but were not alive.  
He further said that as they grew older they should continue to contribute their best to the society as age was just a number.
Dr.Yolila Sangtam, who spoke in the programme said that in past days centenarian were only counted as old people but nowadays people when retired from work were all counted as senior citizens.
She further thanked the senior people present in the church for their contribution in the society which she said was blessing enjoyed by the present generation.
Free health checkup for the seniors and congregation was also conducted after the programme. Doctor, nurses and pharmacies from District Hospital Dimapur assisted the camp where around 100 patients availed the opportunity.
