SBI Mokokchung completes 50 years

State Bank of India (SBI), Mokokchung Branch celebrated golden jubilee at Hotel Whispering Winds here on Thursday. 

The celebration was graced by Chief General Manager (CGM) SBI NE Circle, Sunil Kr. Tandon as the chief host. 

Speaking on the occassion, the CGM said it was a pride moment for the bank in rendering financial service for 50 years to the people of Mokokchung. 

He said Mokokchung is the third most important city in Nagaland, and has the distinction of being the first in producing many personalities such as the eminent sportsman, Dr. T. Ao, the first chief minister of the state, the first Naga IAS and IPS officers. 

He therefore said that the state government has rightly named the district as the ‘Land of Pioneers’. 

The chief general manager also recalled how the branch came into being as the third branch (by seniority in Nagaland) in 1969, and has over the years grown to take care of more than 30 branches covering six districts in the state. 

He also congratulated the citizens of Mokokchung for their support and district administration for the continuous support. 

The CGM further called upon the people to avail various government schemes and also urged them to spread social awareness on the schemes. 

Earlier, he also unveiled the jubilee souvenir.

The programme was attended by representatives of various civil society organizations, SBI customers and others. 

DC Mokokchung, Rajesh Soundararajan, while congratulating the bank for completing 50 years of service said that the bank act as a moral agency for all the Central flagship programme in the district. He expected the bank will give easy access to all the banking facilities to every customer.

Also, extending jubilee greetings, Ao Senden general secretary, Imtipokyim, said that the bank should not only render financial services to the people but to work for public welfare in many ways.

I. Sunep Kichu also extended jubilee greetings on behalf of Land Owner Kichu Clan Mokokchung Village.

Aosungkum Culture Club Mokokchung village performed traditional welcome through Ao folk song. 

DGM SBI Administrative Office, Jorhat, Debashish Mitra delivered on the topic “SBI Mokokchung Beyond 50”. The programme was followed by the jubilee feast.
