SCC , MCK conduct webinars

Sao Chang College (SCC) Tuensang, department of Education conducted one-day national webinar on the topic, “counselling psychology in higher education” on November 6, with counselling psychologist, St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, professor John Balaiah as the resource person. 

A press release by SCC webinar coordinator and assistant professor and convenor media cell, Mudang stated that, prof. John Balaiah in his presentation spoke on mental wellbeing as essential for optimal learning in the field of academic world. He said children should be properly monitored to develop good psychological balance for higher education as many changes take place during formative years. In this aspect, he added that parents have to play an important role in the promotion of healthy life style in the lives of young people thereby facilitating for pursuing their higher studies. He further said that, government, colleges or universities should engage professional counselling psychologist with active support in various areas. More than 2097 participants attended the webinar on google meet and live youtube platform. Many professors and scholars from Sri Lanka, Phillippines, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Greece, UAE, Indonesia, Combodia, Malaysia, USA, California,UK, Saudi Arab and Iraq also attended the webinar by connecting from their respective countries. The webinar was hosted by Mudang, introduction of resource person by Yanglikumla, assistant professor and vote of thanks was proposed by Temjentula, assistant professor and HoD Education. The technical support of webcasting the session was done by Dr. Vimal Jerald, assistant professor, Computer Science, St Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu.

MCK: Modern College Kohima (MCK), department of Vocation organised a one-day national webinar under the topic “Entrepreneurship: Ground zero stories” on November 7. 

A press release by MCK principal, Dr. Vitsou Yano stated that, assistant professor of Commerce from CHRIST (deemed to be university), Bengaluru, Deep Jyoti Gurung, presented on real time ground stories running social enterprise from a community called Garung Thuk in Arunachal Pradesh. The second case study was on social entrepreneur couple who started the Diphlu River Lodge (DRL), a luxury accommodation facility at Kaziranga National Park in Assam. Webinar was chaired by Roshan Pradhan, alumni (2020) and Nukchala Jamir, HoD, Vocation gave welcome address. Altogether 132 participants attended the webinar. Programme was recorded by Yudangchetba Jamir, student from 5th semester B.Voc.
