SCC Tuensang celebrates 45th cultural day

Sao Chang College (SCC), Tuensang conducted its 45th annual cultural day on November 22 at the college campus under the theme, “Re-presentation of culture” with Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, Mohammed Ali Shihab as special guest. 

A press release by SCC media cell convenor stated that, DC in his speech said that Tuensang has been inhabited by four major tribes, where every community has rich and unique cultural items. 

He therefore reminded the gathering to value the culture of honesty, hardwork, sincerity and truthfulness practiced by the forefathers. 

Further, lamenting that the young people were forgetting their culture, he reminded the students that wearing the traditional shawl was not sufficient but as youngsters it was their duty to have proper knowledge of their own culture and to be equipped in all areas. 

He also exhorted the students to have determination to promote and preserve the cultural values and also visualize their aims in life to become successful individuals in the society. He expressed appreciation to the college for adopting the culture of wearing the traditional items and dresses every Wednesday in the college. 

Traditional folk dances were performed by students from different communities, while also traditional attire show, cock fight competition and various other items were showcased.
