A one-day Adivasi Youth Samilan (AYS) was organised by Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE), Dimapur under the theme “Aawa Socha” (come and think).
The program was organized under the aegis of the Youth Department. The theme was chosen to put emphasis on the need to offer young Adivasis a safe, conducive environment and opportunities to grow and develop to their fullest potential.
The main speakers of the program were (Dr) Fr. Pollicarp Xalxo SDB and Petrus Kindo. More than 300 youth from different villages attended the program.
During the program, Petrus spoke on the need to support and encourage one another rather than standing against one another because of “groupism” and “jealousy”.
He also exhorted the youth to exploit hidden talents so as uplift the community. The first session concluded with a group discussion and interaction.
In the second session, Fr. Polycarp generated much enthusiasm among the participants with his call to ‘Dream and think high’.
A cultural extravaganza was one of the highlights of the program.
