12th Battalion of national disaster response force (NDRF) and district response team (DRT), Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Kohima conducted school awareness programme on disaster management at Little Flower Higher Secondary School (LFHSS) Kohima on October 28.

A press release from DRT NYKK stated that, the programme was led by SI/GD Promod Kumar and ASI/GD R. Shitomong. Altogether, 196 students from classes 8 to 12 along with the school disaster management club and 13 faculty members of LFHSS, Kohima participated in the programme.

Keynote address and introduction of the team was done by Mhasil Thol of NYK Kohima. Rev. Sr. Lucy, principal LFHSS expressed gratitude to the NDRF team and DRT, NYK Kohima. 

She also stated that after this training, disaster management club will take active role in strengthening the students so that they can evacuate or take other safety precautions during any disaster.

Programme was organized to check the readiness of the school in case of any emergency during disaster. 

Rescue operation was also demonstrated in the school premises.
