SCMP calls on Acharya; seeks development of border areas

Seemanta Chetana Mancha Purvottar (SCMP) Nagaland state on June 12 called on Governor of Nagaland, P B Acharya and discussed about the development of areas along the international border.

A press release by SCMP Nagaland state, press & information secretary, Viku Kennao, stated that the meeting deliberated on the development of international border region especially in the field of road connectivity.

The release said the governor has also expressed his support towards uplifting the region and added that it must be addressed at the earliest.

Earlier, SCMP Nagaland state committee along with the representatives of international border districts of Nagaland held a meeting at Gorkha Public Panchayat Hall, Chandmari Kohima.

The release stated that during the meeting general secretary, Thsapikyu C Ayonger and president, Rukuvi Sakhrie stressed upon strengthening the organisation along the international border region.

They said the organisation should be strengthened so as to engage in any difficulties faced by the people and pursue for the developmental prospects.

The release said the region has been neglected for many decades  though “enough funds” had been poured through Border Area Development Programme (BADP) through DUDA department especially to develop the under developed areas which lies mostly in the eastern part of Nagaland bordering Myanmar.
