SCS Chessore holds cultural-cum-literary day

 St. Christopher School (SCS), Chessore under Tuensang district organised its annual cultural-cum-literary competitions on September 11 from the school premises with head teacher GMS Chessore, Timothy Throngji as the chief guest.

Speaking at the programme, the chief guest said that their culture defines their character. “Without having proper understanding of our culture, we cannot become good citizens” he added. Throngji expressed happiness over the efforts made by the school in trying to provide proper platform for the children to learn more about the inherent values in their culture through folk dance, folk song, folk stories and traditional attire.

Speaking about the literary competitions, the chief guest reiterated that when the children utilize their intellectual capacity, they grow better. 

The competitions would continue for three days, during which, there will be intellectual activities such as mathematical puzzle, mental aptitude, quiz, debate, news reading, hair styling, fancy dress, advertisement, poetry in action, extempore speech, prepared speech, talent show, spot choreography, spelling bee, drawing and colouring, handwriting, story writing, translation, listening comprehension, singing, and dance. 

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Akumkhiung, welcome note by the principal, Rev. Fr. Loyola Antony, welcome song and a special number by school choir, the KG section children also enthralled the gathering with their action song and special dance and vote of thanks was proposed by the headmaster, Donan Victor.
