Sechü Zubza FC end KFL season in third place

Defending champions, Sechü Zubza FC, with 12 points on the league table, have secured the third place of Seyie Auto Kohima Football League-3. In their last match of the season at IG Stadium, Kohima on Tuesday, Sechü Zubza FC defeated Kohima Eagles 5-2.

Zubza's captain Rhitsho Mero scored his third hat-trick of the season. He found the net in the 57th, 77th and 80th minute. With today’s third hat-trick, Mero has now scored 15 goals in 6 matches. Thejasetuo and Zeaneikho added a goal each for Sechü Zubza FC. 

Goals for debutant team Kohima Eagles were scored by Khakevi Assumi (40th) and Kevisanyü (80th). 

Kohima Eagles are in the fourth position with six points. 

NSF president Ninoto Awomi was the match patron of the day. 

Meanwhile, the fate of the new league champions will be decided with the top two teams playing on the final day of the 3rd edition. 

League leaders Vanguard FC Tseminyu will take on bottom side Khriekesa FC while second place Forerunners FC will lock horns with 5th place A Yhome FC on Wednesday.

Both teams have played five matches each and are leveled on 13 points but Vanguard FC with better goal difference (+12) are ahead of Forerunners FC (+11).

To decide the new champions, both teams have to win their matches and also score as many goals to take the title.  

The champions will receive a cash prize of Rs 1,20,000 while the runner's up will pocket Rs 80,000 along with trophies and citations. 

The closing ceremony of the 3rd edition will be held on Wednesday. Wonchio Odyuo, Joint Secretary & Director Science & Technology will grace the occasion as the special guest.
