Rhitsho Mero scored four goals as Sechü Zubza FC defeated United Falcon Club Medziphema 4-3 in the last quarter-final match of the ongoing 25th Classic Cup played here at Kohima local ground on Tuesday. 

Mero lead the top scorers list of the tournament with 11 goals in three matches.

In an unconvincing victory for Sechü Zubza FC, the team opened the account in the 16th minute through Mero’ penalty. He scored his second goal in the 23rd minute and went on to completed his hat-trick in the 35th minutes. Medziphema team did wasted numerous chances as Komezo Kuotsu was the only person in the score sheet for United Falcon Club in the first half ending the first half with 3-1.

The second half saw Kuotsu scoring another goal in the 42nd minute from a penalty to make it 3-2, however Mero added his fourth from a penalty in the 53rd minute, and missed another penalty in the second half as Zubza team dominated the proceeding. Despite Inoto Ayemi late goal for Medziphema team, the team was unable to fight back for the equaliser as Sechü Zubza hold on the lead to win the match.

With the win, Sechü Zubza FC will play against New Market XI in the second semi-final match on November 21.
