Three-day Angami Sekrenyi-cum-mini Hornbill celebration will begin on February 25 and culminate on February 27 at Local Ground, Kohima. 

The festival will be held under the theme, “Restoring Values”, and is jointly organised by the Angami Public Organisation (APO) and the government of Nagaland. Chief minister, Neiphiu Rio will be the chief host of the festival while Sumi Hoho president, Hekhushe Aye Shikhu and Tenyimia tribes of Nagaland (Chakhesang, Pochury, Rengma, Zeliang) will be honoured guest and special guests respectively.

This was informed by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Lithrongla Rutsa during a press conference Friday at the official chamber of DC Kohima.

Rutsa informed that the theme of the festival was “chosen” with an objective to revive the great virtues and values of Angami tribe, and aims to restore the culture and traditional practices so as to protect the identity of the tribe.

The festival will also aim to provide platform to local entrepreneurs and local artistes by providing them the space to set ups stalls and exhibit their talents through various competitions.

Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) president,  

Zhatuo Rutsa informed that in view of the ensuing festival the “monthly night bazaar” will commence on Saturday (February 22) at 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and added that the bazaar will be held every fourth Saturday and Sunday of the month.
