Seminar on IPR & geographical indication at YMC

One day seminar on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and geographical indication” was organised by IQAC, Yemhi Memorial College (YMC) Dimapur on November 14 with technical in-charge, Patent Information Centre (PIC), Department of Science & Technology, Gihukali Chishi, as the resource person.

A press release by YMC stated that the Chishi highlighted the various aspects of intellectual property rights and how vulnerable people are of losing their culture, identity, inventions and ideas to others. 
With the aid of the department of science & technology as the nodal agency, she said people can safeguard their intellectual property. The resource speaker also provided the attendees with a pamphlet each on PIC.  
The programme started with a welcome address by YMC vice principal, Toyeto Chishi and ended with a vote of thanks by assistant professor (department of political science)¸ Ratna Begum. The seminar was also attended by two assistant professors and 10 students from MGM College, Dimapur as special invitees.
