Seminar on peace in Nagaland

Seminar on the role of educational Institutions in promoting sustainable peace in Nagaland was organized on May 21at Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) building. 

A press release by Peace Channel district coordinator, Kohima stated that the main objective of the seminar were – to impute the significance of peace education with reference to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Goal 16; peace, justice and strong institutions, to explore how to make educational institutions a place of peace, to equip the value, skills and attitudes needed for peace promotion, and to integrate peace education into school curriculum.
Trainer for the seminar, assistant researcher of SCERT, Rosline Richa, trained the participants on the significance of the role of education and its outreach programmes. She also stressed on the key strategies for achieving the SDGs Goal4 and Goal 16. 
Richa elucidated that peace, stability, human rights and effective governance was based on the rule of law which was important conduits for sustainable development.
In her concluding note, she obliged the participants on the need of paradigm shift in the educational curricula and updating the pedagogy and educational resources in order to address the 21st century challenges.
She also emphasized on the four pillars of education i.e., learning to know, learning to do, learning to be, and learning to live together as key drivers of sustainable education or education for sustainable development.
The seminar commenced with a prayer by teacher animator of Sacred Heart High School Kuzama, Rokovino and welcome address by district coordinator, Peace Channel, Alino S Chishi.
