Sensitisation programme for PLVs

One-day sensitisation programme for Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) was organised on June 3. 

A press release from NSLSA public relations assistant stated that, WDLSA secretary W. V. Patton and retainer lawyer, Meribemo Lotha along with five PLVs visited District Jail premises and Observation Home. 
W. V. Patton apprised PLVs on their roles and responsibilities with respect to the welfare of the inmates and their rights while in custody. She also gave a brief preview on the function of the Observation Home and concept of child in conflict with law under the Juvenile Justice System. 
A brief interaction was held with the superintendent of the Observation Home. Earlier, the PLVs witnessed the master trainers providing training on paper bag making to the inmates at the District Jail and also took part. It was also decided that the PLVs would train the staff of the Observation Home to help the juveniles as skill development initiative.
