Sensitization prog on tobacco

Sensitization programme on harmful effects of tobacco and COTPA Act 2003, was held at Zunheboto Town Sumi Baptist Church (ZTSBC) Zunheboto during “Youth committee special service” under the theme “Oath to serve” on January 25.

A press release from district media officer, CMO office, Zunheboto, Shekho Sophie, stated that deputy CMO, Zunheboto, Dr. K. Akaho Sema, addressing the gathering, stated that tobacco contributes to most of leading causes of death in the world. He stated that tobacco use leads most commonly to diseases affecting heart, liver and lungs. He encouraged participants to do away with use of tobacco and motivated participants to be role model by not indulging in tobacco products.
Dental surgeon District Hospital, Zunheboto, Dr. Easther Chophy Ngullie, elaborated about COTPA 2003 Act and presented detailed presentation about Section IV to IX. She encouraged youths to create awareness and also stated that all government offices under Zunheboto were declared as tobacco free zone.  Hantsula Yim invoked God’s blessings, while a special song was presented by YCM.
