Shops, customers urged to follow Covid SOPs

DIMAPUR, JAN 14 (NPN) | Publish Date: 1/14/2022 1:04:57 PM IST

Dimapur District Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has directed all shops and business establishments within DCCI jurisdiction to once again adopt strict Covid-19 protocols, including compulsory wearing of masks by all shopkeepers and salespersons inside their shops and also to keep hand sanitizers on the counter or outside the shop.

In a press note, DCCI vice president V Shikuto Sema also requested the public and customers to adhere to Covid-19 appropriate behaviours like wearing masks and maintaining social distance on the streets and inside shops. Extending New Year wishes to all citizens of Dimapur, DCCI however noted with concern that the rate of Covid-19 positive cases in Dimapur had shown a steady rise in the past few days, which required a collective effort to ensure the situation did not spiral out of control.

The business body also appealed to unions, organisations and individuals not to undertake any kind of fund drive from the businesses community by selling calendars or souvenirs or through other forms of donation as these activities would not be entertained.

DCCI also urged various Naga national political groups to desist from random checking and raids of godowns and shops on the pretext of searching expired goods or maximum retail price (MRP).

Pointing out that there were certain norms and procedures regarding expired or damaged goods and items as clarified on earlier occasions, he explained that traders and shopkeepers have to store expired or damaged goods in godowns in order to get refund for such goods from companies. Only after due process, these goods were either returned to the respective company or destroyed later, DCCI added.

DCCI assured that punitive action would be taken against any trader or shopkeeper selling expired or damaged goods.
