SIRD conducts training programme

SIRD, Nagaland, Kohima in collaboration with NIRD & PR-NERC, Guwahati conducted five-day training programme on “geo-spatial technologies for planning and management of PMGSY roads” at SIRD, Kohima from February17 to 21. 

A press release from ETC Tuensang stated that, in his inaugural address, Dr. Velu-o Shijo, additional director, SIRD encouraged the participants to keep updating themselves with latest technologies for a better and timely implementation and monitoring of all the development projects. Dr. A. Simhachalam, assistant professor, NIRD&PR-NERC, Guwahati was the course director, Merenwapang Jamir, deputy project director, Nagaland GIS and remote sensing was one of the resource persons, while Dr. W. Phola Konyak, principal, ETC Tuensang coordinated the training programme.

Meanwhile, one-day field visit was organised for participants to get first hand information of the assets and capturing the detail data using mobile phones and uploaded instantaneously. 

Altogether 40 participants from PWD, RD and DRDA attended the training programme. The programme was sponsored by national rural road development agency (NRRDA), MoRD, government of India. 

Programme was aimed at exposing the participants in the use of geo-tagging and modern space technology applications for planning and management of PMGSY roads in a cost effective, timely and in a scientific manner.
