SJC celebrates ‘World Heritage Week’
Teaching faculty and students at the celebration of ‘World Heritage Week’.

St. John College celebrated the “World Heritage Week” observed by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and its 2nd annual college festival from November 19-25.

A press release by SJC media cell informed that the Department of history celebrated the “World Heritage Week” as observed by UNESCO at the College premises. 

The celebration was inaugurated with a lecture on “importance & significance of heritage in identity formation” by HoD, Mukutar R. Saikia. 

The department also published a souvenir titled, “A Glimpse of the Historical Sites of Nagaland” edited by assistant professor, History, Kuvethilu Thuluo.

The celebration concluded with a lecture on “History of Human Evolution” by SJC principal, Professor S.T. Janetius. 

He enlightened the students with a detailed report on human evolution and mentioned about the importance of archaeological findings in the history writing process.

In a separate event, the college also celebrated its 2nd annual College Festival under the motto, “Earn While You Learn”. 

Under this initiative students were encouraged to practice their own entrepreneurial skills, setting up stalls selling ethnic food and various fairground games which entertained the students and visitors.  

On the occasion, a team from Civil Hospital Dimapur led by Dr. Temsu, carried out free blood group tests where a total of 62 students identified their blood group. 

A cultural programme was conducted which included several performances by student musicians, dancers, and stand up comedians. The programme was “headlined” by local band UDX, who were runners up at the Hornbill International Rock Contest 2018. The event was also attended by students from other colleges. 

Launched on December 3,1990. Nagaland Post is the first and highest circulated newspaper of Nagaland state. Nagaland Post is also the first newspaper in Nagaland to be published in multi-colour.
