SJU organises ‘Psych-Fest 2K19’

Department of psychology and counselling, St. Joseph University (SJU), Dimapur organised a “Psych-Fest 2K19” under the theme “Young People’s Mental Health Matters!” on September 2 at the university campus.

A press release by the university, stated that guest speaker of the event co-founder and director of Serendip Guardians, Rini Ghose, in her address shared some stark statistics of the current state of registered suicide cases among young people in Nagaland. 
She said from 2016, 2017 and till August 2018, the number of suicide cases registered was 25, 23 and 10 respectively. Earlier, welcome address was delivered by head of department Psychology and Counselling St Joseph University, Dr. Watinaro Longkumer. 
The gathering was also addressed by registrar, SJC, Dr. J. Robert Edwin Chester and president of Student’s Council, Brito Awomi.
