Sumi Kukami Hoho (SKH) has urged the state chief minister Neiphiu Rio to settle the border issue between Peren district and Dimapur district at the earliest as possible to avoid misunderstanding.

In a statement, SKH president H. Kashito Yepthomi and general secretary S Vikato Yepthomi said the hoho made this appeal when they met chief minister Neiphiu Rio at his official residence on April 6, 2021.

The signatories stated that the Sumi Hoho (SH) and SKH have “not involve on this conflict because this is not the tribal issue”, adding that SH had, therefore, issued condemnation on behalf of all Sumis. SKH said it also submitted the “hereditary practice and usages of the Sumi customary” to the chief minister and the commissioner Nagaland.

According to the hoho, it also requested the chief minister to allow appointment of Kukami (GBs) under deputy commissioner level since going to commissioner’s office in Kohima involved more time and expenditure.

Further, SKH appealed to the chief minister to give some few months to avail UIN number for Arms license holders who could not renew their license because of COVID-19 pandemic.
