Social science exhibition & integration camp at KVS

A cluster level Social Science Exhibition-&-National Integration Camp was held at Kendriya Vidyalaya School (KVS), Dimapur on Friday. A total of 235 students and 21 contingent teachers from seven Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools from Nagaland, Manipur and some parts of Assam participated in the camp.

In his address, chairman, VMC, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Brigadier D S Rawat, who graced the inaugural program as the chief guest, emphasized on the need for students to learn more and adapt to the diverse cultures of India. Dwelling on diversity, he quoted the late Atal Behari Vajpayee who said that the strength of India lay in its diversity. He also urged students to love and appreciate the diversity of our vast country.

Earlier in the program, principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Umesh Chandra said the social science exhibition and national integration camp was part and parcel of the KVS education system since its inception. He said the two-day program held in different regions across the country was aimed at introducing students to the vivid culture and traditions of the country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Gujarat to Nagaland. Each region of KVS gets a state and country as topic as to prepare their projects and presentation on, and the camp is a great opportunity for the students to learn team work, leadership skills, community participation and patriotism, Umesh Chandra added.

Day one of the program was marked by various competitions for students from classes VI to XII. The competitions held on the first day were: solo song, group dance, solo classical dance, group song, debate in English and Hindi, Hindi poem recitation, English elocution, Sanskrit shloka recitation, including a creative writing competition, on the spot painting and project exhibitions. 

The camp will culminate on August 25 with theatre, quiz and spelling-bee competition.
