A day long special enrolment drive under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) was organized by the Department of Social Welfare, Jalukie project under the theme “Mother’s Power, Nation’s Power” on December 4 at Northern Zeme Council Hall, Ngwalwa Town. 

According to DIPR report, supervisor, Neitsilie Nakhro in his speech said PMMVY is a centrally sponsored scheme and is a Maternity Benefit programme which was implemented using the platforms of the Anganwadi centres. He informed that under PMMVY, all eligible beneficiaries who have applied and comply with the conditionality will receive cash incentives of Rs. 5000 in three instalments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to their individual bank accounts.

Nakhro also stressed on the objectives of the scheme wherein he mentioned that PMMVY Schemes aims to provide partial compensation for the wage loss in terms of cash incentives so that the woman can take adequate rest before and after delivery of the first living child and also to encourage pregnant woman and lactating mothers to seek an improved health and nutrition behaviour.

CDPO Jalukie, Namhuheing Zeliang in his short speech emphasized on the importance of the community participation in all the activities and encouraged the community to come forward and participate in the programme. He further requested all the AWWs and AWHs to ensure that all women who fulfil the required conditions to be enrolled.

The programme was chaired by supervisor, Meyie Kronu while vote of thanks was proposed by Pauram Zeliang.
