SRC organises awareness on alcoholism

An awareness programme on “general aspects of alcoholism” was organised by Shalom Rehabilitation Centre (SRC) for students on September 27 at Bosco College of Teacher Education (BCTE), Dimapur.

A press release by the centre informed that  Shalom Rehabilitation Centre  is a project of the Development Association of Nagaland (DAN), run by the Catholic Diocese of Kohima. 
Resource person of the programme, Shalom Rehabilitation Centre director, Fr. Chacko Karinthayil, briefed the students on the meaning and characteristics of alcoholism, stages of alcoholism. 
He described alcohol addiction as “modify reality withdrawal syndrome”.  Fr. Chacko also reminded the gathering on some of the dos and don’ts to be kept in mind by the community workers and helpers. 
Fr. Chacko Karinthayi also shed some light on counselling the alcoholics.
