SSAALWC to halt SARDP work

After its appeal to authority concerned to clear compensation to beneficiaries under the 2nd phase went unheeded, SARDP Sumi Area Affected Landowners Welfare Committee (SSAALWC) has now declared that construction firms would not be allowed to execute work in any village under its jurisdiction.

Announcing this, committee chairman Ghuvishe Zhimomi and secretary Kakheto Zhimomi warned that forceful entry by any company or organisation or government agency would result in blockade of highway. They, however, added that Xuivi village was exempted from the purview of the committee’s ban as compensation had been cleared till 3rd phase.

The committee had threatened to stall SARDP work on June 12.

Acknowledging Sümi Hoho’s appeal to contractors of 2-lane road between Zunheboto and Chakhabama that appeared in Nagaland Post on Thursday, SSAALWC urged the hoho to reason why the 2nd phase was still pending when 90% of landowners were yet to receive the property damage compensation, even as National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) had begun compensation for 5th phase, leaving behind the 2nd phase for unknown reason.

The committee requested Sümi Hoho to ponder seriously on the matter why the road project had been hampered so long and also find out the genuineness of its demand, instead of directing the construction company to complete the road project within the stipulated time.

SSAALWC urged the Zunheboto deputy commissioner to take up the matter with the authority concerned and clarify on the present position regarding compensation for the 2nd phase.
