SSP 12th annual sports meet concludes

The closing ceremony of the XII Annual Sports Meet of Sainik School Punglwa was held on December 14, 2019 with Col Shakti Singh, Commanding Officer, 36 Assam Rifles, gracing the occasion as chief guest.  

On his arrival, the chief guest was accorded Guard of Honour by the cadets of Sainik School Punglwa.

At the event, the chief guest released ‘VYWOM’ (Voice of the Young Warriors of the Morung), a magazine by the cadets which showcases their inherent creative expressions and different activities undertaken in the school.

In his speech, the chief guest appreciated the effort the school had put in to bring up the school to the present standard. He also lauded the exhilarating performance of the cadets in the various events that they had displayed. He reminded the cadets to realize the privilege they had in being part of the Sainik Schools and advised them to take advantage of the holistic education the school was providing.

Later, the chief guest gave away the prizes to winners in the various events. The school also presented memento to the chief guest and the then the meet was declared closed by the chief guest.

On the last day of the sports meet, four final track events were held – 100m for class X and XI, 400m for class VIII and IX, 4x100m rally for class X and XI and 200m for class VI and VII respectively. The overall trophy for Inter House Athletic Meet was lifted by Patkai House. 

Earlier, School Principal, Gp Capt Prasun Basu delivered welcome address.

The function included spectacular and mesmerizing items such as Mass PT by cadets of class VI, Flag Exercise by cadets of classes VIII and IX, Music Yoga by cadets of class VII, Bamboo Exercise by cadets of class IX and Gymnastics by cadets of class X.  The occasion was also marked by a vibrant Band Display by the school band.
