Stakeholders meeting little too late, says WSH

Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has described as “little too late” the consultative meeting of all stakeholders convened by the state government to discuss the Naga political issue and the ongoing peace talks between the Naga political groups and the Government of India.

WSH through its media cell questioned what was the point of calling a meeting of all stakeholders now i negotiations between the various Naga political groups and the government of India has been finalised and the draft agreement ready to be signed.

The hoho stated that the meeting should have been called long back “when the time was crucial and all core issues were needed to thoroughly deliberated.”

WSH stated that calling a consultative meeting now at this moment “when the already agreed position seems more of a political gimmick and an act to only impress the central leadership rather than a genuine exercise to grasp the pulse of the people.”

According to WSH, there should have been a proper roadmap with some concrete solution taking on board all civil society groups, mass-based organisations and churches when it was much needed. It stated that there was no logic in the proposed call now as the 14 tribes and others have all made their stand loud and clear.

As leaders, Western Sumi Hoho said it was expected of the state legislature to have also come up clearly with their concrete stand boldly
