State BJP members inducted into national BJP team

National BJP has initiated a major reshuffle in the ranks within the party and appointed new faces while dropping few names from important posts as it announced a new team of the party’s national office-bearers on Saturday.

Two BJP members from Nagaland were also inducted into the Central team. Former state BJP president, Dr. M. Chuba Ao was among the 12 who were appointed as national vice presidents and adviser IT, S&T and NRE Mmhonlumo Kikon was among the 23 appointed as national spokespersons.

The BJP also appointed eight national general secretaries in-charge of various states. However, the names of senior BJP functionaries like Ram Madhav, P Muralidhar Rao, Saroj Pandey and Anil Jain did not figure in the list. Among the prominent changes was the appointment of Tejasvi Surya, an MP from Karnataka, as president of the youth wing Yuva Morcha in place of Poonam Mahajan.

The party also inducted three national joint secretaries, 13 national secretaries, treasurer, central office secretary and other frontal organization members.  This is the first reshuffle under Nadda, who was elected unopposed as party chief in January, taking over from Amit Shah. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to twitter to congratulate the new team. 

State BJP president and minister, Imna Along and deputy chief minister, Y. Patton also took to twitter to congratulate the new national BJP team including Dr. M Chuba Ao and Mmhonlumo Kikon. They also thanked national BJP president, J.P. Nadda for reposing faith in the leaders from Nagaland and hoped that their presence at the national level will have tremendous impact for the party and the people of the state and the region. 

On behalf of the state BJP legislators, Patton wished them the very best as the embark upon greater responsibilities for the party and for the people.
