State funeral of late T.Torechu held at Pungro town

A state funeral was accorded to four-time MLA, late T. Torechu at local ground Pungro town on Tuesday. 
Speaking at the funeral service, deputy commissioner (DC) Kiphire, Sarita Yadav conveyed her heartfelt condolence to the members of the bereaved family. She described late T. Torechu as “careful appearance person” who devoted his entire life for the upliftment of his people. DC said that he was also a good, responsible person who had made every effort for the upliftment of the district and brought several developments particularly to his area.
Former MLA, R. Tohanba who also spoke at the funeral service described late Torechu as a kind hearted man, a strong person and trustworthy friend and colleague who tirelessly worked for the people. Speeches were delivered by leaders from Kiphire district, friends and family.
Late T. Torechu MLA who represented 60 AC (Pungro-Kiphire) was laid to rest in the compound of his private residence at Pungro town.
Funeral programme was fully packed by well wishers and was also attended by dignitaries of Kiphire district, party, tribal leaders and others. The programme was chaired by pastor, Pungro Town Baptist Church, K.Yimto. 
Meanwhile, various organisations and individuals have offered their condolences over the demise of late T. Torechu who passed away on December 16 at CIHSR, Dimapur.  He leaves behind his wife, six sons and one daughter. He was 71.
YAA: Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) has expressed pain over the untimely demise of late T. Torechu after a prolonged illness.
In a condolence message, YAA said late Torechu led an illustrious life who served the Nagas and his community in particular in various capacities.  
The message said late Torechu served the office of YAA as the social and cultural secretary during 1978-81 and went on to serve the Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC) as the general secretary before entering in politics.
 In his demise, YAA said the Yimchungrü community has lost a towering personality, known for unwavering commitment and the void created by his demise would be difficult to fill. 
In this moment of grief and sorrow, YAA has conveyed heartfelt condolences and prayer of solace to the bereaved family. YAA also prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
KU: Konyak Union has expressed deep shock and sadness at the sudden demise of late Torechu. 
In a condolence message, KU described late Torechu as a strong leader with a cheerful heart who always worked for the welfare of the people. 
In his demise, KU said a strong and committed leader serving for the Naga people especially for the Eastern Naga people has been lost and that the vacuum left would be difficult to fill. 
The union conveyed a heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed that Almighty God will grant them comfort and solace in this time of grief. KU also prayed that the departed soul rest in eternal peace.
Former PA: Former personal assistant to T Torechu has expressed deep pain at the demise of late Torechu and prayed for the departed soul rest in peace.
Kuzholuzo Nienu MLA: Kuzholuzo Nienu MLA stated that Nagas have truly lost a fatherly figure, an elder brother, a friend, a colleague and a comrade in the form of late Torochu who was one of the finest, humblest and simplest soul ever and a down to earth leader. MLA expressed deepest condolence to the family members and prayed that his good soul may rest in peace.
