State gears up for mock drill

Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home department has geared up for the conduct of Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx), a mock drill to be held on November 21. 

In this connection, a table top conference will be held on the November 20 at 10 a.m in the secretariat conference hall. All AHODs/HODs have been requested to attend the table top conference. All the District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) have also been asked to conduct table top conference in their respective districts on the same day. 

In connection with the mega mock drill, a review meeting was held in Longleng under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner, Longleng M. Shayung Phom at DC’s conference hall on November 19. 

According to DIPR report, DC briefed the members on the table talk exercise for the upcoming Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) scheduled in Longleng along with the rest of the district.

Cautioning that the departments found absent during the table talk exercise and mock dill will be reported to the chief secretary, the DC directed all the departments to mandatorily participate in the NEPEx without fail. 

EAC headquarter, Robi Sangtam presented the overall incident response system and the role and responsibilities of the incident response team which comprised of every department. 

He recalled that mock drill conducted in the last two years were successful and expected better this year. Robi also asserted that the main purpose of the NEPEx was to educate and generate awareness among the communities and different agencies on how to establish mechanism for effective response to any disaster.  SP Longleng, the ‘F’ Company Commander 44th AR, Longleng and ADC Longleng also spoke and shared their previous experiences with the members. Booklets on Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) were also distributed to the members.    

DC Mokokchung, Dimapur inform

In view of the state wide mega mock exercise schedule to take place on November 21, DC Mokokchung has urged the public not to panic but to cooperate with the authorities for smooth conduct of the mock exercise stating that NEPEx is only a preparedness exercise and not a warning of any impending disaster. DC also asked the public not to spread rumours which may cause fear psychosis during the exercise.

Meanwhile, ADC Dimapur, Lovitoly informed that the table top exercise will be conducted on November 20 at 11 am in DCs conference Hall Dimapur.
