State level VDP for ST/SC entrepreneurs in Dmu

State level Vendor Development Programme (VDP) for Schedule Tribe (ST) and Schedule Caste (SC) entrepreneurs was held on November 13 at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur. 

A press release by Business Association of Nagas (BAN) informed that the programme was organised by Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC) in collaboration with department of Industries & Commerce (I&C), government of Nagaland and BAN under National SC-ST Hub Scheme of Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), government of India. 

Speaking at the inaugural function as special guest, director, I&C department, K. Hokishe Assumi, encouraged the budding entrepreneurs to scale up from single level to cluster level to meet the supply chain demand. He also assured government support to the entrepreneurs.

Assumi also encouraged the entrepreneurs to start innovative businesses and develop sustainable business models. 

In a key note address, deputy director, ministry of MSME, government of India, Tali Longchar, divulged that Dimapur will shortly have a Directorate of MSME, exclusively for Nagaland.

Longchar said in January 2020, every district was to organize exhibitions, trade fairs, workshops and seminars and a budget of Rs. 10-20 lakhs per district has been allocated for the same. 

He also explained Central Public Procurement Portal and Govt. e-Marketplace (GeM) and stressed that entrepreneurs must equip themselves with digital know how to be competitive.

BAN president, Vitho Zao said the association with around 400 members is a young association and that the members wish to learn more about the government schemes, policies and procurement procedures. He requested the government to conduct similar programs in the future.

NIDC manager, Temjenyanger Jamir said VDP is basically organised in line with the public procurement policy 2012 with a core importance to SC/ST entrepreneurs. 

He stated that the VDP is an awareness programme to create linkage of SC/ST entrepreneurs with the central ministries and CPSUs in procurement of Goods and Services.

The inaugural programme was chaired by BAN information & publicity secretary, Dr. Yan Murry, invocation was pronounced by DSBC Associate Pastor, Kaniti Aye and Functional Manager, DIC Dimapur Kavito Zhimomi proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was followed by technical session.
