State level webinar on consumer awareness organised by DGC

State level webinar on consumer awareness under the topic, “consumer awareness: rights and responsibilities in the context of global pandemic” was organised by Dimapur Government College (DGC), department of Economics on October 16, with president of Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) and assistant professor Kohima Law College, advocate Kezhokhoto Savi, as resource person. 

A press release by NVCO press and media cell stated that, Savi said that consumer protection was of vital concern and importance for every citizen of the country and that provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 were compensatory in nature and applied to all goods and services. Savi spoke on the rights and responsibilities of every consumer in exercising one’s right. He also mentioned the rights to safety, information, choice, to be heard or for representation, and right to consumer awareness. Savi also spoke on the responsibility for exercising one’s rights, filing complaint, how to file complaint and the relief available to consumer. 
Savi further spoke on Nagaland state consumer helpline with toll free No. 1800 – 345 – 3701, an alternate consumer dispute redressal mechanism where a citizen can call and seek information, advice or guidance for his day to day consumer problems.
