State need to strengthen education system: Acharya

Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya, Tuesday asserted that Nagaland needed to strengthen the education system in order to strengthen the society.

Addressing the inaugural function of Free IT Workshop for the computer/IT teachers at Dr. Neilhouzhü government higher secondary school, here Tuesday, Acharya said that education was the primary principle for any society or state to progress and develop.

Stating that students in government schools were mostly from poor families, Acharya pointed out that government schools needed to be improved and education system strengthened. Stressing on the importance of Information Technology (IT) at present, Acharya stated that IT has become an important part of education that could take the education system to a higher level.

He also said that IT has become necessity to empower the students to acquire the required skills and knowledge for better employment prospects.

Governor called for making use and take advantage of the available resources to strengthen the skills and knowledge.

In his speech, advisor school education, KT Sukhalu, expressed gratitude to the team from Mumbai for initiating the workshop to create IT awareness to the teachers and students. The workshop was organised by Indian National Fellowship Centre (INFC), Mumbai. 

Sukhalu said technology was here to stay to help and exuded confidence that the initiative would motivate the people.

Advisor also said that basic knowledge of a computer and technology starts from school, adding that through such initiatives the teachers would be trained and the same would be imparted to the students.

Stressing on imparting quality education, Sukhalu said with technology coming into being the state would have better generation of young boys and girls who would take the step ahead. 

He further expressed hope that such initiatives would help students achieve their vision.

In the first phase of the workshop, Dimapur, Kohima and Wokha districts will be covered.

Resource persons included Nidhi Poddar, Trupti Jadhav and Snehal Sambre from USM’s Shriram Mantri Vidyanidhi Infotech Academy.

Principal Secretary Menukhul John chaired the function while Dr. NK GHSS principal Dr. Bijano Murry proposed vote of thanks.

SCERT director T Sekhose, school education Director Wonthungo Tsopoe, senior government officials and others attended the function.
