State NVBCP team visits Kiphire and Zunheboto

The National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) from the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, led by joint director, Dr. I Talitemsula Jamir, along with a monitoring team, visited aspirational district Kiphire as part of its  Supportive & Supervisory Monitoring activity. 

A press release issued by Dr. I Talitemsula Jamir stated that the team, during the five days, covered Pungro sub-division, Kiphire Sadar and also Seyochung sub-division. 
A meeting was also held on April 23, at GA Guest House, Pungro with chairmen, representatives and stakeholders of nine wards where it was proposed that Pungro be adopted as a Model Town to reduce Malaria cases which were very high in the year 2018.
The team also took part in the World Malaria Day program at Seyochung town on April 25, where state program officer, Dr. I Talitemsula Jamir exhorted students to take active part in the effort to eliminate Malaria.
Deputy director, Dr. Neisakho Kere also spoke on the occasion and impressed upon students and the people of Seyochung town that they need to contribute towards the Malaria elimination effort as was indicated by the World Malaria Day 2019 theme which says ‘Zero Malaria starts with Me’.
The team also visited Aghunato block, Satakha Block, Pughoboto block under Zunheboto district on April 25 and 26, followed by a meeting held at DVBO office Zunheboto. SPO NVBDCP highlighted the performance of all categories of staff under the program and also urged them to not be complacent because the program aims to eliminate Malaria by the year 2022.
