State Police launches new website, e-patrol

DGP Nagaland, T. John Longkumer, IPS Saturday launched the new official website of Nagaland Police (https://police.nagaland.gov.in/) and also flagged off the e-patrol unit/app at Rhododendron Hall, Police Complex, Chümoukedima.

Speaking at the launching programme, Longkumer said the new website has been made more user friendly and dynamic with additional interactive features, which will enable visitors gain more information and services.

He further stated that the new website will enable users to access the Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping of all police station. 

DGP called upon the police officers and personnel to embrace IT revolution so that they get accustomed with rapidly changing technologies.

While informing that the state police has been working to upgrade its digital footprints in various ways, Longkumer however cautioned that machines will not decide success, but the people who handles it. 

Raimectech Solutions, developer for both the newly launched website and the e-patrol app, made a power point presentation. In his presentation, Business Analyst of Raimetech Solutions, Richard Asoso stated that the e-patrol app was unique and one of a kind, which will now allow digital monitoring and storage of details/data of patrolling units through GPS, via secured and encrypted QR codes installed at different patrolling points within specific police stations and jurisdictions with their specific co-ordinates.

He further stated that users can also gain access to the app even without internet connectivity or network access.

On the newly launched Nagaland Police website, CEO Raimetech Solutions, Kedo Nagi stated that besides new features, important numbers have been prominently listed on the home page. The website has been developed in compliance with all mandatory requirements of the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW).

Earlier, the programme was chaired by IGP (TRG & BDR), Liremo Lotha, IPS and closing speech delivered by ADGP (L&O), Renchamo P Kikon, IPS. 

Later in the afternoon, a training course on technical techniques of investigation, surveillance and intelligence was organized, with Director, Blak Tronics investigation Labs, Ishaan Sinha as the resource person.

STF unit to be deployed soon

DGP Nagaland T. John Longkumer said that the elite state police unit or the Special Task Force (STF) will be commissioned soon.

Talking to Nagaland Post on the sidelines of the new website launching event, Longkumer said that the STF will be equipped with advanced weapons and equipment.

Besides specializing in counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations, DGP said the STF will also assist in emergency situations outside the domain of normal policing duties.

He said STF was mainly established in order to keep a force ready to react to any kind of situation at any given point of time.
