State trg for PLVs underway in Kohima

A two-day state refresher training for Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs) organized by Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) in collaboration with Control Arms Foundation of India & Multiple Action Research Group (MARG), New Delhi supported by the European Union commenced at the ATI on July 9.
A press release by NSLSA Kohima, public relations assistant stated that, Justice L.S. Jamir, in his inaugural speech, sent out a strong message to not use the name of the NSLSA for personal gain. He said that such misuse of its name would not be tolerated. He stated that PLVs were the bridge between the grass root and the legal services authority and also the backbone of the legal services authority. He therefore urged the PLVs to be aware of the problems of the people and use the knowledge gained from the training to make the legal services a grand success. He also released the NSLSA quarterly newsletter. 
Anju Talukdar, executive director MARG explained that the Multiple Action Research Group (MARG) was working on legal empowerment to make people learn about their rights and to teach people the skills of using the law to enjoy their rights. She pointed out that quality should not be compromised when it came to access to justice. In this regard, she said that the PLVs had a key role to play in helping the system function.
The chairperson of the program, Mezivolu T. Therieh, NJS, member secretary NSLSA delivered the welcome address, while Akumla Longchari, state coordinator NSLSA pronounced the vote of thanks.
The resource persons for the two-day training are Zaiba Anjum, local coodinator, MARG, Ambalika, program coordinator, MARG and Anju Talukdar, executive director MARG.
