St. Peter’s Church, Angjangyang and the Mesulumi Youth Society held their Silver and Golden Jubilees respectively, on January 9. Following are reports from the celebrations.

StPCA: The Catholic community of St. Peter’s Church, Angjangyang (StPCA), celebrated its Silver Jubilee along with a felicitation and reception program for SABS, Sr. Albina Moya (First Religious Sister from the Village), with Bishop of Kohima, Rev. Dr. James Thoppil as the main celebrant on January 9 under the theme “Peter you are the Rock”.
A press release from Bishop’s secretary, Fr. Victor Renthungo, mentioned that the Bishop in his religious discourse said that a Jubilee was a time to express gratitude to God who inspired and guided every step of the pioneers of the community who ventured out to accept and to live a faith that was not very familiar and welcomed. He also acknowledged them for their sacrifices and dedication.
The Bishop further stated that Jubilee was also a time to live the present with passion and to re-dedicate and renew our lives according to the principles of Jesus Christ.
A St. Peter’s CYA Tribal Troop led the procession from the village junction to the Church entrance and gave a grand reception to Bishop James and Albin SABS.  Bishop James Thoppil blessed and unveiled the Jubilee Monolith.
SABS, Albina Moya, cut the ribbon of the monolith and assistant parish priest, Holy Redeemer Church, Tobu, Rev. Fr. Joseph Kath gave a welcome speech. St. John Bosco Youth, Mon, presented special numbers during the felicitation program.  Jubilee greetings and exhortation were delivered by former ministers, K Kiko, A Nyamnyie, and Wangpa Anthony. The program was compeered by Elick Thomas and Rose Mary and word of thanks was delivered by the Jubilee Planning chairman.
MYS: The Mesulumi Youth Society (MYS) celebrated its Golden Jubilee at local ground, Mesulumi village, with Kezhienyi Khalo, MLA 17th Chizami A/C, as special guest on January 9.
A press release from MYS media cell stated that Khalo, himself a former president of the MYS, lauded the effort of the MYS pioneers and all its leaders who worked tirelessly and contributed significantly towards the celebration.
The MLA lamented that many youth of the present generation had spoilt their lives with intoxicants and most youths, instead of going to Church during worship hours, give mobile phones priority. He advised them to work hard, be more active in Church activities and contribute towards village development.
He also urged village leaders to maintain cordial and healthy relations with neighbouring villages and challenged leaders to be more dedicated, cooperate and work together for the development of Secheku range. Khalo also unveiled the jubilee monolith at Chitho Rikhube which was blessed by pastor MBC Kewekhazu Venuh. The program was chaired by Dr. Kulo Kapfo, a welcome note was delivered by president CRPO, Welhipe Chiero, and a vote of thanks was proposed by VCC Mesulumi, Wenyilo Venuh.
