STRY on vermiculture technology

A Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) program was organized by the department of Agronomy, NU:SASRD at Padumpukhuri village from March 11 to 16, in collaboration with State Agricultural Management & Training Institute (SAMETI) Nagaland and National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) Hyderabad.

A press release from NU:SASRD, Medziphema professor L. Tongpang Longkumer stated that the weeklong training included lectures, demonstrations, hands on trainings and practical exercises with professor L. Tongpang Longkumer, department of Agronomy, as the resource person. The participants were oriented on the importance and scope of organic farming and the importance of vermi-composting technology and its application techniques in organic farming systems.

Altogether 15 rural youth from Padumpukhuri and Aoyimti villages were trained in vermiculture technology. Certificates were awarded to participants after completion of the training.
