Sukhalu graces Jotsoma GHSS jubilee

Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Jotsoma celebrated its golden jubilee with advisor, School Education, K.T. Sukhalu as the special guest at its school premises on Friday. 

Sukhalu in his address congratulated the school for completing 50th years of existence and producing many responsible citizens. “Good education produces a better society” he said adding that it brings all round development. Laying emphasis on the proxy teacher issue, he solicited public cooperation to address this problem.

Challenging the government schools in the state to perform better, Sukhalu announced that he would present his one month’s salary to the school if it figures in the top-ten list. He also appreciated the good past performance of GHSS Jotsoma and encouraged the other government schools to perform well. He also assured the school that he would take care of its needs.

Principal secretary, School Education, Menukhol John in his address saluted the founders of the school, which, he said, started with humble beginnings and was now celebrating 50 years of its glory. He also encouraged the school to look back at its history on the occasion and identify any corrective measures that may be needed. He appreciated the cooperation of the community in running the institute and said the government alone could not successfully run an educational institution.   

Director, School Education, Wonthungoe Tsopoe in his brief address lauded the school for producing many responsible citizens in different fields and also appreciated the involvement of the Church in the development of the school. He compared the Education department to a parent with many children, unable to attend to all their needs. However, he said that the performance of GHSS, Jotsoma was an encouragement to other government schools in the state.

The first headmaster of the school, D. Peseyie also addressed the gathering. 

The program was compeered by Nusalii S. Nienu and Kezhalhusieno Peseyie; the invocation was said by Rev. Savito Nagi convenor SMDC; a welcome address was delivered  by Azinu Savi Swuro, principal GHSS, Jotsoma. The School Souvenir was released by Keneizhakho Nakhro, MLA 8th Western A/C; special songs were presented by school staff, alumi GHSS Jotsoma and jubilee choir; a vote of thanks was proposed  by Mezhü-u Hozoyeh headmaster, GHSS, Jotsoma; and the benediction prayer was said  by Rev. Zakiebinyü Peseyie, pastor, Baptist Church Jotsoma. Earlier, the special guest unveiled the golden jubilee monolith. 

The program was attended by the NBSE chairman, government officials, Jotsoma villagers, various students’ leaders, past pupils, teachers, the public and others.
