Naga United Village and Vihokhu Village played a goalless draw in the opening match of the 1st Open Soccer Tournament at Showuba Local Ground, here on Tuesday. The tournament is being organised by KUTO FC. 

Both teams started the proceeding in the attacking mood but could not make any break through. Vihokhu Village also rued missed chances particularly at the end as the match ended in stalemate. 

In the second match, Kuhuboto beat Chumukedima 2-1 and in the last match of the day, Xelhozhe and KUTO FC were locked to a goalless draw.

The opening ceremony was graced by senior superintendent of Taxes, Nitoli as guest of honour.

In her address, she stressed on the importance of games and sports to stay fit and healthy. 

She urged the youngsters to devote time to sports adding that there was large avenue in sports if taken seriously

However, she reminded the players that patience and hard work was required to excel in sports. 

Thanking the organiser for organising the tournament, she also urged the players to compete in the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play. 

It may be noted the KUTO FC was formed by veteran footballers to give platform to the youngsters and also to focus on fitness. 

20 teams including a veteran team (KUTO FC) are vying for the championship title. The final will be played on July 24. 

The opening ceremony was attended by host of elders and leaders from Kuhuboto and Showuba areas. Kivi Zhimomi, a professional footballer, who plays for Northeast United in the Indian Super League also attended the opening ceremony. 

Earlier, the programme chaired by KUTO FC president, Yimso began with an invocation by pastor SBC, Rev. Tochumong followed by welcome address by KUTO FC assistant general secretary, Khezheto and a special performance by Qüvüli Assumi. The oath to the team captains was administered by Hutovi and vote thanks by KUTO FC treasurer, Yankiumong.
