T Khel lead medal tally on day-1

Tsütuonuomia-Khel lead the medal tally of the 64rd Kohima Village Sports Meet 2020 with seven medals (3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze) on Tuesday.

Dapfhütsumia-Khel are in the second position with a total of 5 medals (2 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze). Pfuchatsumia-Khel are in the third position with 2 medals (1 gold, 1 silver) and Lhisemia-Khel in fourth with 4 medals (2 silver and 2 bronze).

The athletic events on day-1 took place at IG Stadium Kohima which includes the 100m, 200m, 400m, 4×200m, 4x400m, and shot put, broad jump, high jump, javelin throw and discus throw etc. 

Meanwhile, Seloukuolie Kire representing Dapfhütsumia-Khel broke his previous record in shot put. He clinched the gold medal by throwing a distance of 12.19 metres (last year record stood at 12.10 metres). 

In the men’s broad Jump, Neiketoulie Belho of T. Khel set a new record by jumping 6.46 mts (previous record was 6.10 mts). In the men’s 4x200M relay race, Neiketoulie Belho, Medoneituo Sekhose, Keviphrü Sekhose and Keneitseizo Belho also set another record by finishing the race in 1:36.50 sec (previous record was 1:43.34 sec).

The second day will also feature athletic events at IG Stadium which will begin from 9:30 am onwards, while the U-16 wrestling will be held at L. Khel Indoor Stadium at 4:00 pm.
