T R Zeliang releases Makuiluangdi Festival Documentary Film

Former chief minister of Nagaland TR Zeliang released the ‘Makuiluangdi Festival Documentary Film’ during a webinar organized by Luangdimai Citizens Forum. The Release Program was hosted by Abigail KaizunPamei, an entrepreneur based in Shillong, Meghalaya. 

A press release by Luangdimai Citizens Forum convenor L. Kamson stated that Zeliang, in his address, urged the Luangdimai people living in Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and across the world to come together and unite as one people with one vision and one voice.   At the end of his speech, Zeliang released the “Makuiluangdi Festival Documentary Film” from his residence in Dimapur.

Founder and principal, Highland National College, Imphal, Manipur, PoujenlungGonmei who earlier  delivered the welcome note  acknowledged the presence of various prominent leaders and individuals from all around the world taking part in the online release program. 

He recounted the help of Zeliangrong Frontal organisations, Makuiluangdi and Nguangphungning village while acknowledging and appreciating their tireless efforts in making the initiatives of LCF and the Makuiluangdi festival a reality.  

Additional central commissioner, Central Provident Fund, Mumbai, Dai Remmei who is also the director of the documentary film shared the brief background of the film. The documentary film is focused on the “Makuiluangdi Festival” a notable event that took place on the November 28 to 30, at Makuiluangdi Village, Senapati district, Manipur. 

The 2019 festival was aimed at sensitizing the larger Luangdimai community in and around the sacred sites and remnants of its ancestors, with the conscious intent to enable an understanding for the urgent need to preserve and conserve their history and ethnic identity; traditions, customs, and social practices that promote equity and equality for all individuals; promote environmental sustainability; and create room for thoughtful conversation for economic development. 

Nriame expressed gratitude to T.R Zeliang for his time and presence and also thanked the  Remmei Films crew members for bringing out this documentary film despite the pandemic and other hurdles on behalf of LCF . He also thanked 110 hosts in different places of the globe who signed up to screen the film in their respective places today.

The webinar ended with a prayer of blessing by Charingambou Briam, pastor, Inpui Baptist Church Sanglamtilla Rangaphar Dimapur, Nagaland.
