Tailoring shop for women opened in Pungro

Under the initiative of Manila Shakti Kendra (MSK), a livelihood tailoring shop for women was inaugurated at Pungro by ADC Pungro, Abhinav Shivam on December 10. 

According to DIPR, the shop was a pilot project of the government to give tailoring training to widows and destitute women and will be run by the trainees after passing out of the institute. On the occasion, Pungro Cutting and Tailoring Institute also organised a “Fairytale” programme- cum-exhibition and sale of materials produced by the institute at ADC office Pungro. 
The programme was attended by leaders from Yimchungru Tribal Council, Public Forum Pungro Sub Division, GBs and the general public of Pungro town. ADC Pungro, Abhinav Shivam, who graced the programme as special guest stated that in a society, contribution of men and women were equally important and therefore they need to complement each other in all spheres.  He also called for empowerment of women stating that they should be given due space and respect. 
President Public Forum, Kiusumew Yimchungru thanked the government for initiating the programme for destitute women. President YBA Susanna, who also spoke on the occasion, challenged women folk to fight for their inherent rights and also contribute positively to the society. 
15 trainees undergoing training at the institute gave a demonstration on gowns designing guided by tailoring instructor Kihikali Sumi.  
Earlier, the programme began with an invocation by Rehola and benediction by R Kikhumthong.
