TASU asks irregular teachers to resign

Tobu Area Students’ Union (TASU) has warned all those teachers who have been away from their respective place of posting under Tobu Area “to either resign or make necessary arrangement for transfer within next four months.”

TASU president, Sangti Konyak and general secretary L. Davidson Konyak in a press note reminded that the union along with the 13 federating units had passed a resolution “not to entertain proxy teachers starting from next academic session.”

During the education drive to 21 GPS, seven GMS and two GHS, TSAU said it was brought to light that 30-35 percent of the teachers had kept proxy teachers, most of whom were high school dropouts.

It also said that in majority of the schools, only 20-30 percent of the syllabus was covered and the GMSs were found to be shortage of Math, Science and Hindi teachers, affecting the students.

TASU also claimed that the head master of Govt. High School Tobu, who had joined office in 2014, had allegedly attended office only once. TASU demanded that the concerned department should immediately suspend the HM and depute a new one, if it was serious about imparting quality education.

TASU also reminded all the teachers, undergoing training with approval from the Education department, to submit the approval letters along with all the supporting documents to the TASU office on or before October 30, as the “union will be doing the recruitment for the substitute teacher for the next academic session.”
