The Tetanus Diphtheria (Td) vaccine was launched on March 22 at Motsuo Memorial District Hospital by state Immunization Officer, DH&FW Kohima, Dr. Ritu Thurr.

A press release by district media officer, NHM Wokha, stated that while announcing the replacement of the Tetanus Toxoid (TT) with Td, Dr. Ritu said that children and pregnant mothers should be immunized against this preventable disease and that the vaccine offers protection against both tetanus and diphtheria.

He also said that TT booster doses were being administered to 10-16 years of children and pregnant women and now the TT would be replaced by the free of cost and safe Td vaccine.

The new vaccine was introduced because of diphtheria outbreak in the state of Kerela in the year 2016.

The Government of India has launched the Td vaccine which is a combination of tetanus and diphtheria to protect against maternal and neonatal tetanus and diphtheria during pregnancy.

Launched on December 3,1990. Nagaland Post is the first and highest circulated newspaper of Nagaland state. Nagaland Post is also the first newspaper in Nagaland to be published in multi-colour.
