A “Thanksgiving Programme” was held at the site of Tzumejem stream (demarcation between Longkhum and Mangmetong villages), Friday with village council members of both the villages, members from the concerned department, contractors (Among and Sanen) in the presence of constituency MLA Imkong L Imchen for the successful completion of the Alichen to Mangmetong road.

Speaking on the occassion, MLA Imkong L Imchen remarked that it was a red letter day for the villages of Longkhum and Mangmetong with the successful completion of the road. He further lauded the two contractors for a job well done. He stated that the road (which remained non-motorable for many years) would not benefit the commuters but also economically uplift the people of the two villagers, especially when the road is declared a ‘National Highway’. Which, he added was bound to happen in the near future. Imkong L Imchen said that Longkhum and Mangmetong share a ‘unique’ relationship in the sense that Longkhum is the father (Tebu) of Mangmetong village, a bond which can never be severed. He called upon the duo villages to strengthen the relationship for peace and prosperity. Imkong also cautioned the duo village council members not to let election politics enter the sacred age old village polity.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Mangmetong Baptist Church Home Evangelist, Bendangsangba, short speeches were delivered by village council chairmen, Sendonglemba (Longkhum), Yudangba (Mangmetong) and contractor Imsumongba, invocation was offered by Alichen Compound Baptist Church, Pastor Tia and benediction by Longkhum Baptist Church Pastor Rev. Aka.
